Waste Management tells Flower Mound of improper recycling

From the Town of Flower Mound’s website:

On February 17, Waste Management notified the Town of Flower Mound of a recent audit that uncovered improper disposal of previously-collected recyclable materials. A portion of the recyclables from 13 communities in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, including Flower Mound, were collected and disposed of at a local landfill instead of going to a recycling facility. This happened periodically, over a two-year period.

As a result of the audit, Waste Management has terminated the management employees associated with this situation and reinforced the importance of proper collection and delivery of all recyclable materials. In addition, Waste Management has also informed the Town that additional processes and audit checkpoints have been added and employees have been retrained to ensure this does not happen again.

While this is an unfortunate situation, the Town of Flower Mound appreciates Waste Management being forthcoming. All Flower Mound residents are encouraged to continue recycling their materials.
