Marking Your Health Their Business

Dennis Song has been a pharmacist for more than 38 years, which means he can tell you all about the way things used to be in his profession, when customer service, education, and reliable patient care were the norm everywhere you turned.

Back then, you were more than just a customer, and your local pharmacy did more than just fill prescriptions. They knew you, your spouse, and your kids, and they were acutely aware of what medicines you were on and whether or not they were improving your overall health. If something needed to change, you could trust that your pharmacist had the answer.

Dennis says his goal has always been to bring those days back. But at Flower Mound Pharmacy, they never left.

“When people come here, they pass a million pharmacies on the way,” Dennis said. “We must make it worth their while and make it personal. People can get prescriptions filled anywhere. But to be effective, you must develop relationships.”

In a world where big-box pharmacies are popping up on every street corner, and customers can sometimes feel like a number, it’s nice to have a hometown pharmacy that places so much importance on intimately knowing everyone who walks through the door. Even first-time customers or visitors passing through town feel like they were genuinely cared for.

Flower Mound Pharmacy, a Health Mart Pharmacy, has served the Lewisville and Flower Mound areas for more than 21 years at their location at 1001 Cross Timbers Rd. Before that, Dennis was the pharmacy manager at Tom Thumb. Dennis, who has built a reputation for integrity and excellence, has many customers who have been visiting him since the Tom Thumb days, and there’s a running joke that a handful of those customers only want to work with Dennis when they come in. If he’s busy with someone else, they’ll wait or come back.

Lucky for Dennis, he has surrounded himself with a staff of 16 employees, including five pharmacists, that are essentially an extension of all the great things that make Dennis – and the pharmacy as a whole – so special in the eyes of his customers. In fact, several of those employees have been by his side for 18 years or longer.

Flower Mound Pharmacy is unique in that they integrate conventional prescriptions with vitamins, herbs, and natural medicines. They are also a compounding pharmacy and offer everything from diet and nutrition programs and health screenings to specialty foods, lifestyle education, and prescription delivery. And that’s just for starters.

You simply can’t find that type of personal care and longevity anymore. Couple that with this pharmacy’s comprehensive list of services, and it’s a wonder why residents of Denton County would choose to go anywhere else.

“Pharmacy is personal. It’s important to people. The bottom line is that we care about our customers and are outcomes driven,” Dennis said. “When you leave here, our goal is that you know a little more than when you came in. This is especially true with the medicines you are taking.”
