Continuing A Tradition Of Industry Excellence

What does an air conditioning company with a tradition of superior quality and service do to be even better than it already is? That’s a question Southern Comfort Mechanical owner Steve Stewart and his team have been working to answer.

When it comes right down to it, though, Steve said there’s no need to reinvent the wheel – just focus on the little things.

“We always look to be better because you can’t keep doing things the same way. The world moves, so you should evolve,” he said. “It’s about finding new ways to build on the trust our customers have always had in us.”

Centrally located in Lewisville for the past 11 years, Southern Comfort has always been family owned and operated and built its reputation of keeping families cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They provide reliable service for residential and light commercial clients from the Lewisville and Flower Mound areas to Dallas and Denton and can service any need, including duct cleaning, insulation, WiFi thermostats, and air quality and purification. Steve has been committed to improving upon that legacy since he took over in late 2017 from previous owners Jason and Laurie Fraser.

While it is still very much business as usual thanks to a core of dependable employees, longtime customers may have noticed a few smaller changes that are producing big results. One is with improved communication.

When you schedule an appointment with Southern Comfort Mechanical, you can expect a text message 24 hours ahead of your appointment time. While this is standard practice for many service organizations, regardless of industry, it is far from a simple, “Hey, your technician is on the way” text. Southern Comfort has taken things a step further by providing a picture of the technician who will be taking care of you along with a short bio on their experience in the industry. Not only does this give customers confidence that they will recognize the person showing up at their front door, but it shows just how much the company wants to build relationships with the community.

Along with the bio, there’s also a link customers can click on to get details on where the technician is in route. Many of those technicians you already know, including Robert and BJ. Steve has continued adding to his staff with Brett, Luis, David and Eric over the last several months, and that increased workforce has allowed them to handle service calls faster and more efficiently.

“We want to add different communication strategies and be better prepared to handle the calls that come in during winter and summer,”
said Steve, who added that he still holds three training sessions per week on everything from technical training to more ways to improve customer service standards. “The last thing we want is to keep our customers waiting.”

While Steve and the crew are hard at work tweaking things for the better, one thing that hasn’t changed is their ability to offer service solutions no matter the season. For example, it’s May now, which means the weather is heating up and homeowners will be looking for a reliable company to help with everything from preventative maintenance to system replacement.

Their staff is trained not only for installs but also making sure the system you choose is properly sized for your home.

Some of the system considerations to take advantage of this spring are single stage, two stage, and variable speed. There are also options for a heat pump which cools in the summer and heats in the winter.

If you are battling bad allergies, another tip Steve mentioned was to think about whether or not it’s your house that’s making you sick.

Over time, the air ducts in your home can build up with dirt, pet dander, pollen, and more. Southern Comfort technicians are professionals at safely cleaning your ducts so you can lead a healthier lifestyle. On top of that, they also ensure your duct work can handle the load of any new system you may decide to purchase. They offer the REMI HALO®, which further improves air quality inside your home by working in conjunction with your new AC system to destroy pollutants before they reach your family, clients, or employees.

It is easily mounted into AC and heating systems air ducts, where most problems start.

“And as always, it’s a great idea to keep up with your regular maintenance programs for your air conditioner and heater throughout the year,” Steve said. “It’s important to keep everything up to date and running well.”
